Many men have asked what they can do to prepare themselves for The Battle. Here are a number of suggestions you can implement right now in your life as you prepare to go to war for your sexual purity:

 

1.      Purchase and read the text used in Purity Boot Camp, Every Man’s Battle by Steven Arterburn and Fred Stoeker

 

2.      Purchase and read the text used in Purity Platoon, The Power of Purity by Dr. Irv Woolf (Hopewell Publishing)

 

3.      Recruit a purity partner. Ask another man to hold you accountable for living in sexual purity (zero tolerance for pornography, sexual fantasies, masturbation). Call each other daily to check-in and pray for each other. Meet together weekly and ask each other the 25 accountability questions. Four questions to ask over the phone daily:

 

a.       “How are you struggling with your sexual purity?”

b.      “What do you need to do differently to stay pure?”

c.       “Have you lied, deceived, or neglected to tell me something?”

d.      “How can I pray for you?”

 

4.      Cleanse your computer. Install a new, clean hard drive, an ISP (internet service provider) filter, and Covenant Eyes accountability software (www.covenanteyes.com). Ask your purity partner and, if married, your wife if they would be your accountability partners on Covenant Eyes. Use the code “EMBFP” for a discounted monthly rate.

 

5.      Register for one of the upcoming battles. Go to our Events Calendar for the dates and registration information.

 

6.      Stop sexually acting out. Ask God to help you resist the pull of the flesh and the temptation of the devil to go back to the old sinful habits. Your purity partner can hold you accountable in this area, but he can’t do it for you. Take responsibility for your sexual purity and “flee sexual immorality” (1 Corinthians 6:18).

 

7.      Memorize Purity in Heart verses from the Bible. The following are verses used in Purity Boot Camp and Purity Platoon to renew a man’s minds and help him become sexually pure. Begin memorizing one verse per week (more if you can). Meditate on the verse and ask God to help you understand what it means.
